Stand by Your Midwives: Let Prevea Know How you Feel About Loss of Midwifery Services

MENOMONIE & EAU CLAIRE FOLKS: you may have heard that Prevea is ending its OBGYN care as of 9/30.

CNMs Karen and Annie are the heart of Prevea’s maternity service, providing warm, gentle welcomes to new babies and compassionate, person-centered midwifery care to expecting families all over the Chippewa Valley.

It is really sad to see these two amazing providers sent packing without any input from the communities they serve.

We KNOW that midwifery care produces better outcomes than traditional physician-led care in low risk patients.

We also know that families using midwifery care are PASSIONATE about midwifery care, and loyal to their midwives.

When midwifery services are cut, people who have benefited from those services aren’t going to just passively let themselves be transferred to a physician.

They are usually going to take their business elsewhere because they want MIDWIVES.

Midwife-led care is NOT interchangeable with, or replaceable by, physician-led care.

They are two totally different things.

Consider contacting Prevea’s patient experience hotline at 920-429-1720 to share your love for Karen & Annie, and thoughts on Prevea nixing their services.

Please pass along to anyone you know who may be impacted by this change.
